rvingfulltimewithtomandella.com2019 October 03 Thursday in Liberty Hill, TexasNo sunrise photo … and this is why.Ella stripped the bed and bagged up all of our dirty clothes, including those that spent the summer in the hamper. After breakfast, I loaded the clothes into the truck in preparation for going to the laundromat.I set off more bug bombs (2 this time) as we left home for the day.The post office was our first stop for the day. I did a six month renewal of the P.O.Box. At the same time, I picked up a change of address form to transfer from that P.O. box to our physical address. It was nice to see the gang at Over The Hill Gang today. Food was good, as it always is. After the meal, we stayed to play canasta with friends.Laundromat time came directly after our canasta game was over. After arriving home, I put the awning out. That included awning support rafters, deflappers, and making sure that the tiedowns were secure and tight. The evening breeze under the awning was preferable to sitting inside in the heat.Dead/dormant grass that crunches underfoot.God bless and g’nite

2019 October 02 Wednesday in Liberty Hill, Texas

Low hanging clouds again this morning but not as nice a photo as yesterday.

Before leaving home today, I set off a bug bomb, to kill the biting ants that have, not only invaded our home, but also our bed. To make it effective we had to close all the windows and ceiling vents. Remember that our air conditioner is not working and it is predicted to reach 91° today. It is not going to be a pleasant place to which to come home.

Ella’s appointment with the heart doctor was at 8:30 this morning. We just barely made it on time.

And, of course, there is paperwork that needed updating. The good news … she’s doing well.

Once we were done at the doctor’s, we made a beeline to Grandies. We were only a little late. After rollcall we had two tables of 6 each to play canasta.

The table talk turned to pastor Saint’s sermon from this past Sunday. Most of the people at Grandies, who were also at Cross Tracks church and heard the sermon, were upset. Many were talking about leaving the church. I wish I could have heard the sermon for myself. I do not like making choices on second hand opinions.

After Grandies We we’re not wanting to go home until that bug bomb had a chance to work.

Rather than going home, we went to Golden Chick for lunch. We took as much time as we could in the restaurant.

We knew that we were going to the choir party in town at 5:30 and we were trying to stay in town until then. Ella suggested going to the library. An excellent suggestion.

At the library we found a parking place under a live oak. Rather than go in, Ella dropped her seat back and took a nap. Even with the 92° the breeze in the shade was comfortable. Rug That’s what they mean by, “it was a dry heat.”

God bless and g’nite

Lowhanging clouds made for a nice photo this morning

After unloading the truck we went to Hobo Junction for breakfast. I’ve really been hungry for the chickenfried steak with grits, biscuit, and eggs. The photo doesn’t do justice to how good the food is.

We had a few odds and ends to purchase. Also Ella wanted a haircut.

I prefer the before.

We went to Tate’s football game.

After Tate’s game

2019 September 29 Sunday

2019 September 29 Sunday in Cutty’s Grimes, Iowa

56 degrees and rain when we left for church this morning. We drove in rain until we got just past Eagleville Missouri.

3:00 74° We stopped at Trex near Winston, Mo for fuel. And at the Country Cafe for lunch. They were not very busy.

There was a guy sitting at the counter telling stories. I know more about him than I do about most of my relatives. I know where he went to school, how old he is (58), and the name of his aunt and uncle. I heard about his going to a ball game and almost getting a Jersey. I heard the names of people on his highschool football team and their greatest opponents. And he wasn’t even talking to me. He was talking to the (18? year old waitress)

At 10 minutes after 6 we are in or near Emporia or Fremont.

It’s a little after 7 p.m. and we have about 350 miles behind us and about 550 in front of us. We are near Towanda, KS and I thought we were getting close to the Oklahoma boarder.

We landed in Blackwell Oklahoma for the night. Food at McDonald’s and a room at Bestway Inn. We are not quite halfway.

God bless and g’nite

The golden eye in the sky.

The Coffee Gang at Cutty’s cafe this morning.

Almost everything is in the truck and ready to go. The livingroom looks much nicer without all of those boxes. Tomorrow morning the refrigerator gets emptied into the ice chest. Then the ice chest and overnight bag go in the truck.

By the way, that is not Ella, it’s a decoration.

This is Spooktacular weekend so so kids will be coming around around begging for treats. Many campers are direct decorated with their Halloween finery.

My longtime friend, Lyn, turned 70 today. She owns a ballroom and was working tonight. Her daughter planned a huge surprise party for her. Friends snd family took over the duties for the night so that Lyn could just circulate and visit with people she hadn’t seen in years.

That’s not a real cake, but there at are 70 candles on it.

She was sprayed with silly string and retaliated by picking it out of her hair and throwing it back at the kids.

God bless and g’nite

The sun arose through the has haze this morning.

Another good size crowd at the senior center.

Getting the fire going for the United Methodist Men’s hobo supper.

Brad getting a headstart on the dessert.

Day 141 in Iowa with only 4 more to go before we head back to our Texas home.

71 days of work and this is the final work day of the season.

2019 September 24 Tuesday

2019 September 24 Tuesday in Cutty’s, Grimes, Iowa

61° mostly cloudy reached 83°. And then, in the evening this happened.

I worked 8-1:30 on my next to the last day. It was very slow. I had no one on the visitors list and only 2 paying folks, one moving within the resort to a different campsite. And one person coming into the campgrounds to camp.

Ella did laundry and continued packing stuff in boxes and suit cases.

Ella picked me up after work and we went to Culver’s for lunch.

Kara called and talked for awhile. She and Krista may come to visit Thursday afternoon.

Thursday is also the night of the United Methodist Men’s Hobo dinner. I’m hosting it at Cutty’s. Virgil e-mailed the guest list to me today and I was able to make guest passes.

Lisa (church secretary) emailed a PDF of this week’s church bulletin so I could check it for any changes. Several other folks may also make changes before it is printed. That’s a little different than how I’ve done bulletins over the summer. I prepared the bulletin and emailed it to Lisa for printing … boom … done!

This is our living room, still in the process of packing. You may also notice two pair of feet proped up in the recliners.

God bless and g’nite
