Yes I worked today from 1:00 – 7:00 pm. I thought I’d walked into a hornets nest, when I arrived at the fee booth. Two women were fighting over the same camping spot.

Person X had register and paid for a different site. They changed their mind and wanted a spot that was currently occupied by person Y, who was due to checkout today. Person X told the attendant either that the site was empty or soon would be.

The fee booth attendant did something that shouldn’t have be been done. They checked Y out of the site and transferred X to that site. Y should not have been checked out unless they had dropped their site card at the booth, or the park ranger be verified that it was empty.

To complicate matters further, person Z had been waiting at that site for Y to move.

X & Z were yelling at each other and the attendant. Each was claiming the right to the spot. And both were threating to give up their membership if they didn’t get their way.

The attendant ask me what they should do. I said that I didn’t know what to do. It was messed up beyond my knowing what to do. I told her that it was her mistake that created all of this, and she was going to have to deside who got the site … after … Y finally moved. She moved the problem up the line to our supervisor. Who made a discussion which, of course, satisfied one and pissed the other off.

There were literally, with no exaggeration, hundreds of empty camping sites. These women were fighting over it like it was the backdoor to heaven.
