2020 January 16 Thursday in Liberty Hill, Texas

An RV is a bubble of familiarity in liminal space.

e got our forty percent of rain between eight thirty and ten o’clock. I don’t think that we made it anywhere near the predicted high of sixty seven.

s a nod to “Throwback Thursday,” there is the following photo from 2010. This was our second or third Iowa winter in an RV. We went through several more before moving to Texas for three seasons out of four. This is known as a white out. There is enough snow in the air that visibility is drastically reduced.

n a related note, that is our van to the left in the photo. I really miss our conversation van(s). We had two identical conversion vans, with the exception that one was a Chevy and the other a GMC. My mother would have said, “Same difference.”

e did a lot of camping in those vans. Our first trip to Texas was in one of them. I traded one for Rudolf the Red Nose pickup that we now have. The other developed electrical problems. After it had sat for many years unpaired, I sold it for salvage. I regret that often.

oday we had lunch at the Over The Hill Gang*. I was feeling a little better today than yesterday. Because I was feeling better, we stayed and played canasta after lunch. I was really ready to be home by the time the game was over.

t was still early afternoon when we arrived home. There was a light fog in the air. The fog became heavier as the day wore on.

God bless and g’nite
