2019 September 11 Wednesday – Patriots Day – in Cutty’s, Grimes, Iowa

74° and more thunderstorms headed our way.

A picturesque sunrise on a very cloudy day. The rain came and went. It was followed by a short encore. It reached 91° with 100% humidity. In other words, it was a great day for indoor activities.

Today was bingo day at the center. Leonard called the first few games. I took over for him when his voice gave out.

There were 7 tables full of people for lunch. Only a few stayed for bingo.

You will just have to trust me when I say, we had pie at Village Inn..

There was a nearly full moon to tonight

A moment ago the sun was an orange ball in the sky. I turned to take the shot of the moon and when I turned back around, this is what I saw.

65° and thunderstorm. It rained overnight and continued until 10:30 in the morning. And still reached 83°. The sun made several spotty appearances throughout the day.

There was an inch and a half in the rain gage.

I worked eight to one-thirty again today. I will have all of tomorrow off.

Kara came for a while this afternoon. We took the Fast Track game to Cutty’s cafe and ate ice cream while we played the game.

Ella made broccoli cheese soup in the crockpot for supper.

Coffee gang at Cutty’s cafe. We It ordered the scramble egg platter, quickly and then butt hurried to Union Park UMC. We’ve only managed to visit our “home church” once this year. I was overly concerned that we will be late because they were switching from summer hours to winter hours and i didn’t know what the hours were. I thought they might be 9 o’clock. They weren’t. Church started at 10:30. On the plus side, I did get to go to Sunday school.

I found this newspaper clipping on our church bulletin board. It was from when Ella and I “visited” the senior center as the Clauses.

This afternoon was the Cutty’s Employee Appreciation Dinner. There were a lot more people than in the photos, because I forgot to get photos until 2/3rds of the people had left.

60° and mostly cloudy. It topped out at 79° under cloudy skies and some early evening rain.

Pre dawn sky.

I can almost hear the music from the movie “2001” as the sun came over the horizon.

Our flower is blooming again. This is the third or fourth time that it has bloomed.

The coffee gang (Francis, Francis and Sandy, Sue and Tom, Ella and I) met at the cafe this morning. It’s open early today and tomorrow. The test of the week it opens at 11, which is why we have having coffee at at the clubhouse.

After coffee, we went to the Hy HyVee in Urbandale.

We needed to buy a Birthday cake and some ice cream.

Nap time was before lunch today. I had assembled some chili this morning and put it in a crockpot. I served it with cheddar cheese, corn chips, and flour tortillas.

Nieces Kara and Karla came for a visit this afternoon. It was a great day to sit on the patio an and play games

The Birthday party for Linnea was it at John’s house this evening. As you can see from the photos, most of the family was there.

We had some rain, so instead of sitting around the fire, we sat in John’s new garage. As you can see the garage is quite large and well lit.

60° and mostly cloudy.

There is no sunshine today, even when my weather app says it is 63° and sunny. My thermometer says 59° and by looking at the sky, I’m saying that is completely overcast.

This is what I did yesterday. I added 20 more blocks to surround the outdoor fireplace. Now there is almost zero chance that the wood pile will catch a spark.

The coffee gang meet at the clubhouse again this morning. Tomorrow the cafe will be be open early enough for us to meet there for coffee.

Each of the area centers have a Wii bowling league, and once a year there is a big competition between the centers. This year our center will be hosting it. So we have been setting out table decorations with bowling themes Duane, a member, made pin, balls, and Wii remotes out of wood.

I worked from 2 until 9 today.

Meanwhile Ella did laundry and played Card Jackpot.

2019 September 04 Wednesday in Cutty’s, Grimes, Iowa 57° and mostly clear. Seventeen degrees difference than yesterday morning. The sun stayed awake today and it was 83° by 1 o’clock.

Another perfectly timed sunrise. Honestly, I woke up just minutes before taking the photo.

The coffee group gathered at Cutty’s clubhouse today because the cafe is on their “off season” hours now and not open early now.

We stopped at the post office before going to the center for gamer and lunch.

There was bingo after lunch.

From the senior center we went to Village Inn for pie.

I was so drowsy that I was glad to get home and take a nap. I slept for maybe five minutes. So, by 5 o’clock I was feeling like going to bed. However Wednesday is Mexican Train dominoes night.

I was too tired to be around fire and sharp instruments. We went to the cafe for pizza.
