63° up to 93° and then a little rain passed through and it dropped to 75°. Then the severe storm warnings came up.

.

I burned some more leaves this afternoon.

.

I worked up a sweat today. I didn’t like it. The one constant of my work history is “I don’t get dirty and I don’t sweat!”

Of course, the 93° temperature and 84% humidity might have something to do with the sweat also.

Just as a reminder, Monday (4 days ago) it was 34° overnight.

After being outside all afternoon, I gave up, came inside, and turned on the air conditioner.

I’m sharing the link to the Go Fund Me account for our Texas home church that burnt last Saturday.

Follow this link if you’d like to help with recovery from the fire at Cross Tracks Church, a United Methodist Community.

2019 May 15 Wednesday in Cutty’s, Grimes, Iowa

Foggy again this morning and 45°. It cleared and reached 66°.

More fog.

We played games while waiting to go to the dentist.

The fog cleared by the time we left Cutty’s.

We arrived bright and early to the Doctors Campbell’s office. But they were working on an emergency patient so it took a while for them to get to Ella. She had several teeth worked on as well as adjustment tho her appliance.

A colder 39° and rain. Happy Mother’s Day!

Getting the day started at the fee booth by counting the drawer. The software all started, gate unlocked, supplies restocked, and opening report printed.

And most important of all, the heater on and running!

Ella had brunch at the clubhouse this morning inn honor out Mother’s Day.

This is a link to a news story about our Texas home church. Cross Tracks Church fire. They are holding one combined service today, but not at the church. They will meet at the Liberty Hill Schools administrative office building, in the gym. I hope someone videos it.

We were invited to Linnea and Rob’s for a Mother’s Day meal.

Audrie and Jason were there also.

The sun was just setting as we arrived home.

God bless and g’nite

What the … 34°? And fog? It’s mid May for crying our loud! It must be global warming. Grin.

Before going to the center, I put the awning out and tied down. I got 2 of the rafters installed. This afternoon I will put the deflappers on and install three remainder off the rafters. If I can find the other tiedowns, I’ll install those also.

The games were over and we were just waiting for lunch..

Here is a video look around the senior center. You can really tell that I limp.

When we got home I installed the last two awning rafters.

I also finally got rid of the mountain of leaves that we found on our site when we returned to Iowa. Some were bagged and trashed and some were burned.

Ella cleaned the outdoor furniture while I got the leaves off the patio.

Notice how wet the patio was under all of those leaves.

Sue and Stoney were out driving around on their golf cart. They stopped to visit while I was napping. However, Ella heard them and went out to visit.

God bless and g’nite

2019 May 11 Saturday in Grimes, Iowa

A cold 44° and overcast to start the day. Slowly climbed to 55° and stalled there. It was still 55 at 7:30 in the evening.

I hit the ground running at work this morning. And then the power blinked off and on, which took everything down. It took about 20 minutes for our main campground software to reset and about 30 minutes for the phone system. I had to call for help getting the credit card machine reset. 2nd day of work and I’m beginning to wonder why I come back every year.

And that was before all the calls started coming in to report that the water was off. The first 2 calls came in bang bang. I quickly called Maintenance and then reassured all of the other callers that the situation was being worked on.

This is the view of the gatehouse as I was leaving work this afternoon. Notice the clouds and lack of sunshine at 2:30.

I was very glad to get home to my bride.

And as an extra bonus, she had batter fried morel mushrooms, still warm from the pan, waiting for me. I have pity on anyone who has never eaten one. They are unlike any other mushroom in looks, taste, and texture.

We received some sad news this evening. The Fellowship Hall at our church in Liberty Hill, Texas is burning. This building has the church offices and a daycare facility. It is a freestanding building, neither attached to the old Chapel nor the new Worship Center. At this point it looks like it may have been a lightning strike that started the fire. But the fire is still burning, so no real determination can be made yet. No one was injured. Prayers are needed.

Hey, look, the sun almost … almost … showed its shiny face.

God bless and g’nite

2019 May 10 Friday

2019 May 10 Friday in Grimes, Iowa

Lots of sunshine this morning. 39° overnight. Even for Iowa that seems strange to be so chilly this late in the year. It spiked at 63°. The average high temp for this time of year is 70 and the low it’s 50.

First day of work at Cutty’s 2019. It was a pretty slow morning. I occupied myself with some sketching. I tried too capture the way the sun was revealing the shapes of the trees. And then the lawn crew arrived and I made some sketched of them. It was impossible for me to capture the motion. In a single sketchy it is too static.

.

.

.

By the way, I did do some actual work between sketching.

While I was at work, Ella went to the senior center for games and lunch. When she returned home, she loaded the dirty clothes and laundry soap into the truck.

At 2:30 she picked me up from work and we took our clothes to the laundry at Cutty’s main street. Once the clothes were in the washing machines, we went to the cafe and had pizza. It was my lunch and supper.

After the clothes were dry and folded we went home. My legs were really bothering me so I took some Tylenol and lay back in the recliner. As the pain let up, I became drowsy. But Friday evening is when some of us usually gather at the adult center for Card Jackpot (think bingo with playing cards). I told Ella that I didn’t feel like going. However, she went.

When she returned home it woke me. It is bedtime.

It just dawned on me that as I was getting off work this afternoon, it was exactly one week from when we began our journey up from Texas tho Iowa. It feels more like only a couple days have past.

2019 May 09 Thursday in Grimes, Ankeny, Iowa

No sunshine This morning

39° and cloudy.

Up early and off to Ankeny this morning. Jason and Audrie were heading to the hospital for more surgery on Jason’s foot. They needed to leave before greatgrandson Caleb was up and off to school. And so needed trees to be there just to insure thwart he made out out the door and to school He got right up at the appropriate time and quickly was dressed and ready for school will before the bus arrived.

We left Ankeny and took the scenic route to Grimes and the senior center.

I was inspired by www.justsketches.WordPress.com to do some sketching today while at the senior center. People were all engaged in conversations

Day 4

2019 May 08 Wednesday

rvingfulltimewithtomandella.com

2019 May 08 Wednesday in Grimes, Iowa

41° and rainy that reached 63° for a moment or two under an overcast sky.

.

We arrived at the senior center slightly before 8:30 because a public health nurse was there to trim toenails. If you haven’t reached an advanced age, you might not understand how nice and necessary it is to have someone take care of your feet four you.

Then we had plenty of time to play multiple games of Fast Track with Joyce, Elwin, and Sue.

The meal today was liver and onions, so I went to McDonald’s for a sandwich, not because I don’t like liver and onions (I do) but because I have am extreme allergic to onions.

After lunch they played bingo until 1:30.

We met with friends at 2:00 for pie at Village Inn.

We had Just enough time for a short nap before going to John and Dawn’s for supper. Linnea and Rob were also there as was Brandon.

Day 3

2019 May 06 Monday

rvingfulltimewithtomandella.com

2019 May 06 Monday in Des Moines, Ankeny and Grimes, Iowa

47° and partially cloudy. That reached a high of 66°.

A trip to Dr. Campbell DDS is Ann interesting way to start the day.

Here I am smiling for the ( x-ray) camera. Then on to the teeth cleaning. I’m good until September. Ella, however goes back on the 15 for fillings.

We made it you the Grimes Senior Center for games and lunch.

After lunch we stopped at the post office and picked up a handful of mail.

From there we drove into Des Moines to help out a young friend. She has a baby but until now has not ha a babybed. She found once online a local buy/sell/trade site. It was free but server had no way to haul it. We have a 3/4 ton pickup. We picked her up at her apartment. Then drove to the Ankeny Police Station for the transfer. Soon a gentleman in a van arrived and we moved the disassembled bed into the the truck.

On the way back to our friends apartment, Ella received a phonecall from granddaughter Audrie. She told Ella to pull into a parkinglot for a hug. She and her husband has seen us on the road and were a few cars behind us. We stopped and got our hugs.

Then a proceeded to our friends apartment and unloaded the bed.

Before leaving the apartment complex, I spotted thirds vine encircled tree and thought out was photo worthy.

Our good deed done, we stopped at a neighbourhood ice cream shop.

A multitude multilayered sunset tonight after an afternoon rain shower.

God bless and g’nite
