2019 April 13 Saturday in Liberty Hill and Georgetown, Texas

61° and fog that turned into one heck of a wind and rain storm.

Grandson Tate had a football game scheduled four 11:00 in Round Rock. We got there about 20 minutes early.

As I was pulling into a parking spot, I bumped the car next to me. Actually, he may had backed into me as I was pulling in. Whichever, I was over the line into his spot.

.

I couldn’t see any damage to his car but I gave him my insurance information and phone number just in career. I also took these photos as proof.

By the time we exchanged information, the parking lot cleared out because the game was cancelled. Before we drive out of the parking lot the storm hit. There were gusts in excess of 40mph.

The first part of the drive home was a little white knuckles. However by the time we reached Leander it had stopped raining and the winds had let up some.

We purchased a Poppa Murphy pizza to take home and bake. I cut it in half, baked half and froze half.

The rain returned off and on throughout the day but the wind was pretty constant.

This photo above was taken at 5:45 in the afternoon. It is not black and white. The photo below was two hours later.

The wind is still rocking us as I write this at 11 p.m.

G’night and God bless.

2019 April 14 Sunday in Liberty Hill, Texas

43° and clear with lots of sunshine. It’s so much different than yesterday. Reached 71° and stayed there all afternoon. A great day to sit outside and do nothing.

Check out these photos of our home in the bright sunshine.

The first three photos were taken inn the morning and the other three in the late afternoon. That’s how I captured sunshine all around.

And as a bonus, I caught the moon nearly halfway through it’s passing overhead.a

God bless and g’nite

2019 April 12 Friday in Liberty Hill and Leander, Texas

47° under clear skies that rose to 74°.

The moon was very bright during the night. Though it appeared to be a full moon in my photo, it was a waxing crescent and only half full.

I took this photo shortly before sunrise but the sky was already very bright and nearly cloudless.

We ate lunch with the 50+ group at Leander UMC. Our speakers today were giving us some interesting facts about people in their 60s and older. They are much more adaptable than people in younger ages. They are also happier. We heard that the way to keep our minds sharp is to be constantly learning new things. With every new skill learned, your brain has to build new pathways.

Today was also laundry day. We pretty much had the laundromat to ourselves.

On the way home we chose to stop at Dairy Queen.

Once home I did a little yard work while Ella retrieved some things from the storage shed.

It was an altogether nice day.

G’night and God bless.

2019 April 10 Wednesday in Liberty Hill, Texas

67° and mostly sunny that turned into 91°.

Grandies today was all about stuffing a lot (1,000?) plastic Easter eggs with candy.

Okay, not quite ALL about the eggs. We still had time for canasta. On the way home we stopped at this new coffee shop in Liberty Hill. We each ordered large ice teas (not sweet). Out came to nearly $13. I doubt we will go back. I’m more of a $.79 convenience store large ice tea sort of guy.Choir practice was interesting tonight. We were joined by 3 preteen boys who have been practicing close harmony on a hymn. This Sunday they will sing the first verse, a quartet will sing the second stanza, and the choir will join in on the last.

G’night and God bless.

2019 April 09 Tuesday in Liberty Hill and Georgetown, Texas

54° was the sunny start for the day. With a very sunny 89° for the high.

Along with games and lunch at the senior center today, we had a special speaker. They brought us information about Pharmacogenomics which is the study of the role of the genetics in a person’s response to specific drugs. The DNA cheek swab may also allow medical personnel to anticipate a person’s susceptibility to things like cancer.

Ella’s physical therapy session started an hour and a half later than they have been. This allowed us more time at home between lunch and therapy. We took some sandwiches to eat after her PT. We had an hour and a half before Tuesday night prayer meeting. We thought we’d wait in the fellowship hall and eat our sandwiches. We didn’t realize that the girl scouts were meeting there.

Coming home after the meeting I pulled off to the side of the road to take this picture of the sunset.

G’night and God bless.

2019 April 07 Sunday in Liberty Hill, Texas

54° rain, thunder and lightning to start the day. We went to church plenty early because the worst part of the storm hadn’t gotten here yet. So we we’re running before the storm.

The photo above is taken as we were headed into town this morning.

The photo below was asst sunset this evening.

Not a lot of difference.

2019 April 06 Saturday

2019 April 06 Saturday in Liberty Hill, Texas

66° and cloudy but it looks like we may have dodged the bullet. Yesterday they were predicting high wind and hail for us this morning.

We received rain, thunder and lightning ends as under a tornado watch area until early evening.

Pene with homemade meat sauce.

Grandson Tate had a football game today. We didn’t go, assuming they it would be cancelled because of the rain and lightening. Evidently, it didn’t storm where they were, about 30 miles southeast from here.

While we were eating lunch, Adam called to say that Tate’s team won 24 to 0. This is their second game and they are 2 & 0. We were invited to go over and spend the afternoon.

This photo doesn’t really show how hard it was to see through the rain.

We were on Ronald Reagan bulkhead when suddenly there were barricades blocking the road. I had to drive all the way back to 183 and then over to 1431. It turned a 20 mile drive into a 40 mile drive. Three red line on this map it’s the alternate route.

Later we got the news report that there had been a fatal crash on the road.

Once we arrived at Adam and Leigha’s we had a nice visit and played a game of Fast Track with Adam and the kids.

The storm ended and the sunn came out for a while. We came home before 5.

As we were getting out of the truck our neighbor came over and askeded to borrow my jumper cables. Then later came and all for my help th3o open the battery box on his. trailor.

Before bed I placed a frozen brisket in the crockpot on low. I don’t have a smoker so the crockpot will have to do.

G’night and God bless.

2019 April 05 Friday in Liberty Hill, and Marble Falls, Texas

58° and foggy and remained overcast nearly all day.

We took a pickup load of aluminum cans to Hill County Recycling in Marble Falls today.

In a combined service project and fund raiser, the Grandies group collects aluminum cans and then twice a year takes them to be recycled. For those in other states, Texas doesn’t have a can/bottle deposit/redemtion law. So we kept a pickup load of cans out of the trash and earned us a whopping $17.10 to use toward Grandies ministries.

But now for the alternative reason to go to Marble Falls, PIE!

Okay, now the third reason, time with friends.

A huge ball of fire slowly crashed to earth and set the horizon on fire! Oh wait … this just in … it was the sun.

G’night and God bless.

2019 April 04 Thursday in Liberty Hill, Texas

61° and partly cloudy this morning. That cleared up and reached 90°. Which maybe a record. And the answer is, yes we had the air conditioning on.

A jet makes a single slash across the morning sky.

We spent the late morning through 2:30 asst the Over the Hill Gang.

Ella had therapy from 3 to 4.

I crumpled and cooked about 5 pounds of hamburger then portioned it out into 5 Ziploc bags and froze them.

I didn’t get a sunset photo tonight simply because I forgot to look out the window.

If this seems to be a boring post, imagine what it is to live it.

G’night and God bless.
