2019 August 20 Tuesday in Cutty’s, Grimes, Iowa

Very active weather this morning!!! The lightening and wind put on quite a show!!!

2″ of rain in a little over an hour.

Cutty’s lake is full and muddy

This short video shows the water coming into the lake.

The water had gone over the road but is now receding. By thetime we were done with coffee, it had dropped several feet on the northwest side of the road.

At coffee we spoke of many things. “Of shoes and ships and sealing-wax, of cabbages and kings And why the sea is boiling hot. And whether pigs have wings.'”* Okay we really spoke of toilet paper and skirts. Of children trailing TP through the house because “it wouldn’t tear!”. Of mothers getting the TP caught in their girdles and trailing it out of a public bathroom. Of women getting their skirt bottoms struck in their panty tops. Of men getting punched for taking the skirt out of the panties. And then again for tucking them back in.

Ella’s flowers looking grand in the hour of sunlight that the maple trees graciously grant them.

Wow weather is the big story today. What a difference humidity makes in how it feels.

.

I managed to get some more work done on the truck topper. It doesn’t look much different than where I left it last time. However, it now has a hinge so that, after the tailgate is open, it can be opened like the back of a hatchback.

God bless and g’nite
