2019 May 05 Sunday in Des Moines and Grimes, Iowa.

53° and mostly cloudy that turned into partly sunny ants reached 77°.Happy Cinco de Mayo It wasn’t a very pretty sunrise..But the clouds made an interesting skyscape a little later. We took a drive around the campground before going to church. We stopped to talk to “the twins” also known as “the boys”. They are twins but since they are in their 40s they are not really boys. They are delightful people who are mentally challenged. They are also the unofficial campground reporters. They walk everywhere and talk to everyone. They know more people than nearly anyone else here. They also seem to know more about what is going on in our community..This is the choir singing for the last time until fall. With summer vacations our its nearly impossible to have the full choir. So during the summer the church relies on volunteer special music.Below is a link to this morning’s sermon.https://youtu.be/x0nZ4kpb7PgOn the way home from worship we stopped at grandson Nate’s for some hugs from the great grandkids. Nathan was working on a logsplitter when we arrived..We drove through Dairy Queen to get some shakes to go with our leftover pizza. This cloud looked just like a giant wall of white to our north.Once home, I spent more time raking and burning leaves. It seems as though there are more leaves left than there were when I started,While I worked outside, Ella worked on unpacking and putting away. Then we napped.God bless and g’niteVisit my daily devotions blog https://musingsdevotions.wordpress.com

2019 May 04 Saturday in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma all the way to Grimes, Iowa.

54° and high fog

.

I snapped this as we were leaving Denny’s. It is as close to a sunrise as we saw today.

Just a lonely stretch of road about 9 am in Oklahoma.

.

Stopped for gas in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

More lonely stretch of road in as we crossed into Kansas around 10.

I tried to get a photo of the wind turbines with the top in the fog.

11:00 near El Dorado Kansas

1:00 pm near Topeka

In Parts Unknown in Kansas at 1:33 in the afternoon a pretty good size turkey flew across the road in front of me I actually clipped its tail feathers we could have had a good meal off of that thing. But it would have cost me a windshield.

This was an accidental selfie taken as I grapped for the phone to check the navigation. It turned out so good, I’m keeping it.

.

About 4:30 we stopped at the first rest stop in Iowa.

Just before 6 we arrived at our Iowa home.

I’ve got a lot off yard work to do. There are mountains of soggy maple leaves to rake and burn or bag for the trash. Composting isn’t an option, for us.if you’d like them, they can be yours absolutely FREE, just pay the shipping and handling free.

We unloaded some of the truck and then went grocery shopping.

God bless and g’nite

2019 May 03 Friday

rvingfulltimewithtomandella.com

2019 May 03 Friday in Liberty Hill, Cedar Park, Texas and all the way to Oklahoma City

62° and cloudy. Thunderstormed all night but appeared to be clearing at daybreak.

It was raining and wet and Soggy when we arrived in Texas back in October and it’s rainy and wet and Soggy when we’re leaving Texas now. But at least it’s warmer

Rudolph the Red-nosed pick up is packed fairly tight. The truck bed is as filled as it can get. The back seat is full but not completely. I may actually be able to tilt my seat back. That was Ella goal.

Our first stop was at Vera Bank where I had purchased a money order to pay for our post office box in Iowa. Only to find out that they would not be able to cash that. So I stopped at the bank to see if I could get my money back. And they showed me an 800 number on the back of my stub that I can call and do a stop order on it and hopefully get my money back.

Our next stop was at doctor Borick, the orthopedic surgeon. I got injections of a long-lasting steroid in both knees. Plus 2 new braces. We arrived early and got right in. We were all done and out before the actual time for the appointment.

We were out of the doctors in time for a stop at DQ for lunch. We took our time eating but were still about 2 hours early for the next doctors appointment.

The next appointment was with doctor Crimmins. Even though We were very early, we got in and, went through the list of medications, and for the EKG taken. The doctor cameon a little later, listen to my heart, read the EKG, and pronounced me good to go.

So go we did. Right straight tho interstate 35 and breaded north.

1:15 and we were on the road tho Iowa.

By 2:00 we in Belton

2:46 we were somewhere around Waco. Google Navigation had taken us off of I-35 because out an accident on the interstate. Did you know that it also warns you of speed traps? I didn’t until today.

We stopped at a rest stop at 3:30 somewhere near Hillsboro.

When 4:30 arrived I was doing something that I claimed i’d never do again, drive through Fort Worth. By 5:30 the traffic had started moving along near the speed limit. Of course, by then we’d reached Denton Texas.

We stopped in Denton for gasoline and Boston Market prime rib … yum!

At 6:30 we saw the partial rainbow somewhere in Oklahoma.

Just before 8 the sun peaked out between cloud formations.

About 15 minutes later and a little farther down the road we were treated to this sunset.

Shortly after 9 we came to rest in Oklahoma City. We did a Google search for a cheap motel. And we found one.

That’s the toilet seat in our room. I guess odds true. “You get what You pay for … or a little less than what yippy pay for.

God bless and g’nite

There were 20 out yrs inn attendance for our iast Grandies meeting until October. We celebrated Debra’s birthday and pour leaving.

There was plenty of cake.

.

Ella did a lot of packing today. I purchased contractors heavy duty trash bags to pack in. I thought I was buying pleased bags. However, when I opened the box, they were plastic lined paper bags. After she filled the bags, I found places to stuff them in the truck bed..

2019 April 30 Tuesday

rvingfulltimewithtomandella.com

2019 April 30 Tuesday in Georgetown, and Liberty Hill, Texas

71° and overcast to start the day. And reached 78° under dark threatening looking clouds. Also wind at 15 mph with 20 mph gusts. It was still 76° at 9 pm.

I awoke with a scratchy throaty this morning. It may be that I was snoring and breathing through my mouth overnight, which I normally no longer do. Or its possible that the Cowboy Rice and Beans, that I ate for supper, had onion in them. I have a severe allergy to onion. If my throat and lips begin tho swell. I’ll use the EpiPen to give myself an injection.

We had enough people at the senior center that we could play bingo.

A larger group for lunch today also.

I stopped at Home Depot for contractor grade trashbags, zip ties, Damp Rid, and dryer sheets. This are all things we need for getting our Texas home shut up for the summer.

Once we were home, I used the trashbags to waterproof somethings carried in the pickup bed. The Damp Rid goes in our closets to get rid of excess humidity. The zip ties will stabilize some shelves inn the shed, and the dryer sheets … well … Ella believers that spreading dryer sheets in, on, and astound everything will keep the mice out puff our trailer. I put out mouse bait.

I was not feeling very well, so, after finishing with the the items inn the truck, I took some Nyquil and lay down for a nap..

.

As usual, we attended the Tuesdaynight Prayer Meeting. We asked for prayers for our journey to Iowa, for our summer worship services, and fire my cold. Yes we have decided it is a cold not seen allergy attack. It is complete with an annoying dripping nose.

I just managed tho catch the last glow of the setting sun.

God bless and g’nite

2019 April 29 Monday in Cedar Park, Georgetown, and Liberty Hill, Texas

66° and cloudy start that became more overcast as the day wore on. But somehow it reached 81°.

Ella had her post surgery consult with her doctor early this morning. He was pleased with her progress and would like a follow up in a year.

From there we wentdirectly tho the Georgetown senior center. That put yes there very early. We played 3 or 4 rounds of

Rummikube and maybe that many games of Fast Track.

As soon as we were home I began cutting some Reflectix

to put in the trailers windows over the summer.

2019 April 27 Saturday

rvingfulltimewithtomandella.com

2019 April 27 Saturday in Liberty Hill and Round Rock, Texas

What a lovely morning to just lay abed and let the cool breeze caress us.

I’ve been reading a book “Short Stories by Jesus” by Amy-Jill Levine. The book is a look at the parables of Jesus through Jewish eyes and hopefully those of a first Century Jew.

It tries to hear these stories as the first listeners would have understood them. It’s a very interesting read. This work has intertwined humor and thought provoking revelations.

Today we went to Tate’s football game. I believe this was their sixth game this season. The score was 32 to 6. Those 6 are the only points scored against them all season. We had lunch with Adam and Tate after the game. I shot some video of the game but didn’t get any photos while we we’re eating.

We had supper with Arik, Jenny and the kids. We then soaked in the hot tub for a while and visited.

I guess that this is part of our farewell tour.

There is no sunset photo tonight because I was neck deep in the hot tub at sunset.

God bless and g’nite

2019 April 26 Friday in Liberty Hill and Austin, Texas

57° and crystal clear start that reached 81° under clear skies.

My sleep pattern shows that I had deep sleep for two hours and thirty two minutes out of seven hours and forty two minutes.

Heather and Austin came to Liberty Hill today and treated us to lunch at Dahlia’s. This was the last chance to see them before we head north.

In the afternoon I rearranged things in the truck bed. A lot of things that I’ve been carrying back there are now stored in the shed. At the same time Ella was taking things out of the shed in preparation for packing for the move.

Arik had invited us for burgers. Ella made a bread pudding to take. So after getting cleaned up, we drove to their place in Austin. Only Sofia was home and that was only because she was sick. Arik was working and Jenny and Beket were off doing something. It turns out I got the date wrong. We are invited for TOMORROW. Opps!

We still had burgers for supper, from Whataburger
