2019 March 14 Thursday in Liberty Hill, Texas

60° mostly clear with a beautiful sunrise. It reached 71° under a blustery sky. This coming weeks forecast is for cooler weather. Below normal temps. However, with the weather other parts of the country are having, I’m not complaining. I’d never heard of a bomb cyclonebefore but it is wreaking havoc from the Midwest to the east coast. The news tonight was talking about part ofthe country having 95 mph straightline winds. There were images of semi tractor trailers being blow over and pushed down the highway but the wind.

Ella is officially freed from her arm sling. She had a follow-up appointment with her orthopedic surgeon this morning.

Her bionic arm is doing fine. She is still doing physical therapy.

And we were out of the doctors in time to make it to the Over the Hill Gang for lunch and games. Here is a panoramic shot of the two main rooms today.

Ella had therapy at three today. She was feeling less beat up today which must mean she’s doing better.

The sunset was almost as good as the sunrise.

G’night and God bless.

2019 March 13 Wednesday in Liberty Hill, Texas

65° wind 20-25 mph sustained with gusts up to 40 mph kept it’s rockin’ and rollin’ all night.

Just before 6 a.m. the rain arrived driven by the wind. It was pretty impressive.

By nine o’clock the sky looked like this.

And the ground looked like this.

By eleven we saw the sun, for the first time in days. It was still mostly cloudy

By 12:30 the sky was nearly emptyof clouds.

Check out this panoramic view of the clear blue sky.

We received a text from Wal-Mart that three shingles boaster shouts were now available. So, off we go to Cedar Park.

Once we arrived and filled out the proper forms, a were told that the shots were going to cost us $200.00. We just don’t have that built into our budget. The booster shots will have to wait.

Does anyone know of an assistance program that might allow is to receive the shots at a much lower rate?

G’night and God bless.

2019 March 12 Tuesday

2019 March 12 Tuesday in Leander, Liberty Hill, Texas

55° foggy, misting and overcast as we start our day. It went from overcast tho completely cloudy. So instead of a constant gray, you could actually see darker clouds moving under the gray. Still reached a windy 74°.

6 minutes to get through the fog and into town and then 6 more minutes to get through the 4 way stop in town. It is a real bottleneck. With all the development along hiway 186, they will eventually need traffic lights here.

It will be interesting to see what the next census has to say about our “little” town. The current city limit signs say, population 967. However there have been multiple housing developments of around a thousand each inn thelast four or five years.

First stop for the day is the VA for lab work. This is in preparation for my semi annual checkup on the 26th. Although, I will be back to the VA this Friday for an eye scan (which had a very long name) because of my diabetes.

They did a good job finding a vein at the VA. One stick and enough blood for all their viales.

I had minimum bruising also.

Since it had been a fasting lab s, the next stop was IHOP for free pancakes. And a donation to the shrine.

.

We went to the laundromat today so that we wouldn’t have to go naked tomorrow. Well it wasn’t quite that bad, but we might have been naked under our clothes. Grin.

The fog persisted through the early afternoon and then just became completely cloudy.

Great way to end the day at the prayer meeting inn Cross Tracks Church. The original church, which is now the chapel, will be 150 years old in 2020.

G’night and God bless.

2019 March 02 Saturday in Liberty Hill, Texas

42° fog and overcast. That climbs climbedto 49 and overcast.

It is Independence Day in Texas. Texas Independence Day is the celebration of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independenceon March 2, 1836. With this document signed by 59 delegates, settlers in Mexican Texas officially declared independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Texas.

To celebrate the day we stayed home. We played some games, did do3ne reading, and watched some videos.

Tomorrow’s high temp is predicted to be 44° and rain. We may not go to Tate’s football game.

G’night and God bless.

2019 March 03 Sunday in Liberty Hill, Texas

36° foggy mist and complete overcast.

Attended worship and Sunday school. Came home and stayed home.

I made a hearty beef and veritable stew with dumplings for lunch.

When supper came we opted for oatmeal with raisins.

It had turned danged cold by sunset

G’night and God bless.

2019 March 11 Monday in Liberty Hill and Leander, Texas

53° and overcast. Topped out at 61°. Sundown was the same gray that started the day.

I didn’t bother taking a photo of the lack of sunrise today. I’ve seen enough of gray skies. I long for a blue sky with the sun shining brightly. I long for stars and moon at night. There was no sunset either.

A few more folks, than are in this photo, showed four lunch at the Georgetown senior center. Lunch was super good with chicken breast pin a bed of wild rice and topped with a mushroom sauce.

This beautiful little tree at our camp site is sprouting leaves as the white flowers are dropping off.

In the evening we attended an Emmaus meeting at Leander UMC. There is always a potluck beforehand.

A short videos of some praise music at the Emmaus meeting

G’night and God bless.

2019 March 10 Sunday in Liberty Hill, Texas

48° and overcast. Almost twenty degrees cooler than yesterday morning. It reached 71° and never saw the sun. It was nice to have the door and windows open.

Not much of a sunrise.

Sunday worship and Sunday school this morning we arrived before 8:30 for the 9 o’clock service, a lot of people must have forgotten to set their clocks ahead for daylight savings. Fortunately only the clock on the microwave and the one in the truck are the only tree that don’t self adjust.

We came home and Ella fixed mac and cheese and cauliflower and broccoli for lunch.

After lunch we played a few rounds of Rummikube. Then it was nap time.

We had pancakes and eggs for supper.

The sunset was no better than the sunrise.

G’night and God bless.

2019 March 09 Saturday

2019 March 09 Saturday in Liberty Hill, Texas

67° and overcast but quickly cleared tho mostly sunny and reached a high of 81°.

It was nice to sleep with a window open last night.

It was another quiet Saturday with nowhere that we had to go.

Our bathroom sink has been draining slowly. Today I first tried pouring a spoonful of baking soda in the drain, adding vinegar, and then holding the plug tightly in place. Usually that creates enough pressure that it will push the clog out. Not so today.

The next step was to remove the P trap. That proved to be more of a task than I counted on. I first had to remove a shelf. If you are familiar with recreational vehicles, you will know the maker’s fondness for screws with square slots. I have one screwdriver but it has been used and abused so that the square edges have become slightly rounded. Therefore, it took much more force than normally necessary. I finally removed the shelf and then the P trap. Our wasn’t pleasant removing a wad of hair and gunk.

G’night and God bless.

2019 March 08 Friday in Liberty Hill and Leander, Texas

62° and overcast

And other gray sky at day’s start but it reached 78° by 3 p.m. under still mostly overcast skies. When the sun did burn through the clouds, it came in hot.

Breakfast was of two eggs, one crisp bacon slice and toasted French bread. The bread was actually fried in our George Forman grill for that extra crunch.

For lunch we went to the Leander UMC for the 50+ monthly lunchen. This month it was spaghetti. Our guest speaker talked about the “Elderly and Driving.” We’re you aware that drivers over 50 years old are the safest drivers on the road? No, neither was I. On the down side, if they are involved in an accident (driver or passenger), they are more likely to die from their injuries.

I’m posting a YouTube look below, if you’re interested.

We made a brief stop at Wal-Mart for milk, eggs, bacon, cheddar cheese, and tangerines.

The sun tried, unsuccessfully, to break through again near sunset.

G’night and God bless.

2019 March 07 Thursday in Liberty Hill, Texas

49° and overcast that reached 75° under partly sunny/mostly cloudy and then switched to completely overcast by 3 o’clock. And then the wind came up. We’ve gone from 30 degrees below normal to 30 degrees above normal within a couple of days.

,

We had lunch at the Over the Hill Gang and then stayed to play several games of canasta. We finished about 2:45 which gave us time to make the very short drive to the physical therapist.

While Ella was with the therapist, I went to Winkleys Hardware to purchase wax for a few Buddy stoves. You can see more any that at my Random Thoughts blog.

G’night and God bless.
