2019 February 22 Friday in Liberty Hill, Cedar Park, and Leander, Texas

46°and FOG instead of a sunrise.

And several hours later …

At breakfast I peeled a tangerine and then realized how much it looked like a flower.

Driving into town for Ella’s therapy at 11 and out was still foggy.

Strangely, with the same camera on video, there didn’t appear to be as much fog.

After Ella’s therapy we went to the Leander UMC for the monthly 50+ game day. We arrived early and the two of us played a game out Rummikube until more people arrived. Bill and Karen Linder to play Fast Track. We switched tho Fast Track and left others use our Rummikube game. The games got other around three o’clock.

I had one item to purchase at Costco. My VA doctor had recommended the Diabetes Health Pack from Costco for me. I

The dollar is just so you can judge the size

wanted to use our Costco rebate check for the purchase because we have decided to not renew our membership. Over the past year we have purchased very little, other than vitamins and supplements, at Costco. It no longer seems coast effective for us to renew the membership. Since we had not eaten lunch, I also purchased a pizza.

We also had a few grocery items that we needed that I didn’t want to buy in bulk, so our next stop was Wal-Mart.

It was between 5:30 & 6:00 when we arrived home.

If there was a sunset photo opportunity, I missed it.

G’night and God bless.

2019 February 21 Thursday in Liberty Hill, Cedar Park, and Leander, Texas

41°and cloudy. It reached 51° under an even cloudier sky. The clouds got darker and lower as the day progressed.

What a lovely sunrise … somewhere but not here.

I had my annual wellness test this morning and Ella had an appointment for a different concern. It was at our local physicians associates. I have a bruise from the blood draw. That doesn’t usually happen.

Our next stop was at the Over the Hill Gang.

54 people for lunch. We had a new couple, Kerri and Susan, who say with us today. They are Liberty Hill residents who live near the high school.

They did not stay for games after lunch, but we did.

I had ordered a prescription refill this morning and Ella also had a prescription after her doctor visit this morning. So, after we finished our games, we went to Wal-Mart in Cedar Park. I dropped Ella off at the door closest to the pharmacy and then took Rudolf the red nose pickup to refill his gas tank.

The short shopping trip over we went home and stayed.

G’night and God bless.

2019 February 20 Wednesday in Liberty Hill, Texas

36°and hazy in the morning.

We went to our Grandies meeting this morning there were only 11 of us today which is quite small for this group. A remarkably large number our members were at doctors or in the hospital. I guess that kind of goes with the age group we’re in. We stayed and played canasta afterwards. Sandi, Pat, Ella, and I them went to Chicken Express for lunch.

After lunch Ella and I went homeuntil it was time for Ella’s physical therapy.

While Ella was getting worked on, I took an empty LP bottle in for a refill. It needed to be tested and recertified. It past and was issued a new sticker and was refilled for $21.

I also purchased some paraffin to use in a simple candle stove. A clean tuna can with tightly rolled corrugated cardboard inserted and then filled with melted wax.

G’night and God bless.

2019 February 18 Monday in Liberty Hill and Georgetown, Texas

41° at sunrise with a mostly cloudy sky. It reached 52° still under cloudy skies.

We went to Georgetown for lunch at the senior center. We played Fast Track with each other. There were three people playing a domino game also. However most of the others just sat and waited for lunch. I don’t understand why there isn’t more activity.

We took a long out-of-the-way route home just because we had no other plans for the day.

We just lollygagged the rest of the day. It was restful.

G’night and God bless.

2019 February 17 Sunday

2019 February 17 Sunday in Liberty Hill, and Menard, Texas

52° at sunrise with an overnight low of 40. It only reached 58° today and the wind made it feel colder.

We left home about 7:30 this morning and drove 120+ miles to Menard Texas to attend church. Normally we drive 6 miles to go to church. That is about 6 minutes at 60 mph. First United Methodist Church of Menard was almost 2 1/2 hours even though some of those miles were at 75 (legal) mph. The reason for the drive was to hear our friend, Pastor Judy Swarts preach.

Ella video recorded the sermon and off I could figure out hope tho post it here, I would.

On the way back We stopped at Cooper’s Pit BBQ to gorge ourselves on the best brisket I’ve ever eaten.

We them hurried the rest of the way home because grandson Tate had a flag football game at 4.

It was a very close game the only point scored in the while game came in the last 3 seconds. It wasn’t for lack of attrition either. Both teams played excellent defence.

G’night and God bless.

2019 February 16 Saturday in Liberty Hill, Texas

37° at sunrise 20°cooler than yesterday morning. It is once again overcast. It topped out at 57°.

We spend the day playing games and resting.

The biggest excitement was watching the landlord’s goat escape its pen.

G’night and God bless.

2019 February 15 Friday in Liberty Hill and Leander, Texas

47° at midnight and up tio 87° buy 3:00pm.

We had migas for breakfast/brunch this morning… or at least something LIKE migas. Bacon, egg, cheese, bell peppers, tomatoes, garlic, celery (just because I had two small stalks that needed to be used), and home made tortilla chips.

There were four washer loads of clothes that needed to be taken to the laundromat in Leander. So we did.

I told you a couple days ago that I would show you how I was going to use the eye bolts that I purchased.

I use them to secure the home made bed cover. Previously I used hold down bolts with wingnuts.

However, the eye bolts are easier to turn when I want to remove them to open the cover. Plus I can use them for tie downs when needed.

Ella had therapy this afternoon but will not again until next Wednesday. Time off for good behavior?

We ate a late lunch at Chicken Express. I really like their ever changing sign.

My favorite sign read, “The boss told me to change the sign. So I did.”

G’night and God bless.

2019 February 13 Wednesday

2019 February 13 Wednesday in Liberty Hill, Texas

29° outside overnight due to no cloud cover. But the sun came up nice and bright. It reached 62° before clouds rolled in. The good news is, the clouds will act like a blanket to keep our heat from slipping out into space. It is supposed to only drop to 57° tonight.

Grandies had some special visitors today. The children in our churches daycare/preschool brought valentines, that they had made, to us.

8 of us stayed and played canasta after the meeting. We had two tables of four.

There were two hours between Grandies and Ella’s physical therapy session. It didn’t seem practical to drive all the way home and back again. We went to Hobo Junction for lunch and ate real slow. I have the same thing every time we eat there. The waitstaff know my order but Ella had to think about hers.

She settled on a chicken club and fries. This was her leftovers!

We still arrived with time to spare for her therapy.

That was the end of our adventures fire today.

G’night and God bless.

2019 February 12 Tuesday

2019 February 12 Tuesday in Liberty Hill and Georgetown, Texas

42° outside overnight and 62° inside when I woke at 5 this morning. That’s great sleeping weather but a little chilly tho be running around in my skivvies. I turned up the heat and crawled back under the covers. It reached 65 this afternoon under a cloudless sky.

I intended tho workinn my daily devotions blog. I must have thought too long because I woke again at 8. Then I really did write inn that blog. So it was nearly 9:30 when I once more ventured from the warmth of the bed. By then out was 72 inside and glaring bright sunshine outside.

I cooked cubed ham, diced bell pepper and eggs all scrambled together.

We had lunch at the Georgetown senior center and played some games, just the two of us. We were hoping that bingo would be played but no. No one plays games here. They sit and watch old black and white tv shows with the sound turned off.

We stopped at Home Depot sho I could purchase some eyebolts. I’ll part something about those later.

Then it was across the street to Wal-Mart for somethings that we didn’t need, but wanted.

The Tuesday prayer meeting was cancelled. I don’t know why. Cancelled on count of good weather? The sun shone today! I was beginning to think it had forgotten how.

No clouds at sunset either.

G’night and God bless.
