ook at that! I actually went to sleep before midnight. I got in eight and a half hours of mostly uninterrupted sleep.

asty cold and rain, seems like a good day to stay home, dry and warm. To that end I called the senior center and cancelled out reservation for today.

othing but gray skies and puddles. Sounds like a country western song doesn’t it?

t is a great day to have a fire in the fireplace (even if it is only electric). It still gives off heat and even though I know that the flames are not real, they are still as mesmerizing as real flames.

aking scalloped potatoes and ham for lunch. I used a combination of our Instapot and oven.

long with the scalloped potatoes and ham, I mixed some soda bread together also. I’ve been wanting soda bread and didn’t want to wait for Saint Patrick’s Day. Plus, I already had the oven heated.

I just sat down after clearing away the dishes and leftovers from lunch, and I realized that I didn’t photograph the finished products. Where is my TARDIS when I really need it?

didn’t even bother taking a sunrise photo. This is looking west and it shows the same overcast sky but has better scenery.

e had fries with our breakfast. We also had some fry bread with sugar and cinnamon.

ust so you don’t think that all we had for breakfast was fries and bread, we also had bacon and eggs.

he drive to the Georgetown senior center it’s a fairly straight road and most of it is sixty five miles per hour.

e took our Fast Track game with us to the center. We had hoped that someone would join us in a game.

here were about a dozen there for lunch today. Lunch was beef tacos, beans, and baked apples.

rom the center in Georgetown we went to Wal-Mart in Cedar Park to get Ella’s prescriptions.

I have been thinking about my grandfather.

There are some things that I remember and there are some things that I know about my grandfather. My memories of my gran’pa are few. He was in his nineties when I was born, so I remember him as a frail old man who had big gaps in his memory.

slept just under six hours this morning. However, I awakened on my own without the aid of an alarm.

ixty two degrees this morning. No wonder I was too warm under the covers last night. No sunrise photo because putt the heavy clouds cover.

astor John Saint’s sermon “THE COURAGE TO BE” was insightful.

s I was using my phone this morning and entering in a message, I got a piece of glass from the cracked screen protector in the tip of my finger.

o once worship and Sunday school were over, we went to Verizon to get a new screen protector. We went to the store closest to home. They did not have one. Rather than drive to the next closest one, I called them and gave them the information about my phone. They said they had one and It was $38.00.

ather than drive to that store, I went to Amazon. My search brought up several options that fit my phone. They ranged in price from $7.99 for a pack of three to $19.99 for a pack of two. Both with guaranteed next day delivery. I ordered the cheapest.

And with the sky so clear It should warm nicely today..few of us gathered to bag cookies for the annual Grandies** Valentine’s Day cookie sale at church. It only took about twenty minutes for three of us to split about twelve dozen cookies into bags of two each. This is one of several fund raisers for our group. It suit supports our ministries.nce again it was laundry day. Three washer loads and two dryers. As usual I took a short nap while Ella kept an eye on the laundry.fter the clothes were washed, mostly folded, and packed away for transport home, it was round for lunch. We couldn’t decide on what to eat. When undecided, go to a buffet. We went to Star Buffet.fter a leisurely lunch, we headed toward home. We didn’t get far before we were turned around by the police. Traffic was stopped at a railroad crossing.progression toward sunset with fast moving clouds. ell, I made it to sleep before midnight and slept straight through until my bladder demanded that I get up. That’s not too bad.

o more below freezing nights, at least for the next ten days. Although it is not all sunshine and roses. Five out of the next ten days have rain in the forecast.

s the sun works it way northward, it will soon be behind that light pole that is in most morning photos taken from my deck. I could take photos without it if I got warmly dressed and walked a hundred feet or so to the south.

oday Ella and I attended a Valentine’s Day Luncheon at the Leander UMC where the 50+ meetings and game days are held. This is an annual event held on the Friday before Valentine’s Day. Since next Friday is Valentine’s, this was the Friday before.

fter the meal there was a game. A slideshow projected photos of movie star couples and we had to write the names of the couples, the name of the movie, and/or their characters’ names. I knew something about all of the movies except “An Officer And A Gentleman” which I’ve never seen.

Grandkids having a snowday in Cedar Park Texas nine years ago. They had much more snow than we did last night. See photo below.

ur water line froze overnight even though I have a heated water hose. For those who are unaware, we live in an RV and our water comes from a hydrant and through a hose which is connected to the RV.

By ten o’clock the water was running free again.

hat bright sun was very welcome this morning.

t ten twenty one the outside temperature had risen from twenty eight to thirty eight. At the same time it was nearly seventy five degrees inside.

This is an article from or local newspaper, “The Library Hill Independent.” The article is about the original 150 year old church building on our campus. It is, by all accounts, the oldest existing building in Liberty Hill. The building it’s used now as a chapel and wedding venue.

It truly it’s as amazing building. It was originally on another piece of land. It was disassembled moved and reassembled in its present location.

he official count for today at the Over the Hill Gang* lunch was forty nine. It seemed that there were more than that.

e had two teams of three for canasta, after lunch. We played two games and each team won one.

his is one of my off the cuff creations. When my children were little and they’d ask what was for supper, is say it doesn’t have a name because until a few minutes ago, it didn’t exist. I now have four adult children two of which are chefs a third who is a foody.

hat I created tonight was fueled by the need to eat more of the leftover beef and barley soup from yesterday and the desire to not not have soup again. I had pancake mixes. So, a little of this and a little of that mixed together and poured into my old George Foreman grill with lower grill replaced with the pan. Minutes later we had a impossible pot pie – sort of.

ixty one degrees is the luxury to which we woke today. It reached a nice seventy two degrees with an eleven mph breeze. Tomorrow’s predicted high is forty one and then down to twenty nine.

his sunrise was slightly odd this morning with the glow beneath but not around the sun.

e had about a dozen for lunch at the Georgetown senior center. Let me rephrase that, there were a dozen or more in attendance for lunch. Lunch consisted of chicken fried steak, asparagus, mashed potatoes with gravy, and mixed fruit.

efore lunch we had a special speaker from the Texas Consumer Protection Agency. She told about the many schemes and scams to watch for. Many of them target older folks, like us. She also gave tips on what to do if we’ve been the target of a scam.

or supper tonight I made spaghetti and meatballs. I made the meatballs about the size of ping pong balls.

I’m glad I took these photos of the afternoon sky. If I had waited until sunset it would have only been a picture of a dark gray sky with no sun to be seen.

am puzzled. The moon is in the first quarter. With my eyes I see a partial moon, but in this photos it appears perfectly round.

s I capture the morning sun, the camera darkens everything else. Pretty amazing technology.

t was chicken enchiladas, beans, hominy, and mandarin oranges for lunch at the Georgetown senior center today. Attendance was down at this center also, though not as low as the Leander center.

fter lunch we drove to the Wal-Mart in Cedar Park for prescriptions, groceries, and household supplies.

eemed likes a good idea to dump the black and gray water tanks before the not so nice nice weather arrives this week.

e were on the road to church before the sun came over the tree tops. And then it was in my eyes part of the way there. That’s thanks to the twisted, hilly six mile road between home and Cross Tracks Church.

really like the information station just inside the main entrance. Plus there are people to greet you, give you a bulletin, and direct you to the sanctuary, classrooms, or nursery.

lus, it’s near the breakfast bar. We were a little early so it was not fully stocked yet. There will be breakfast burritos, sausage biscuits, sausage kolaches, sweet rolls, donuts, various fruits, orange drinks, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and bottled water. Yes, you may take them into the sanctuary.

hen that meeting was over, a few of us went to the Shlotzsky’s near the church.
